Olympic hockey player Varinder Singh passes away
Jalandhar, June 28: Olympic hockey player Varinder Singh passed away on Tuesday in Punjab's Jalandhar.
Born May 16, 1947, the Olympian was an Indian field hockey player and won a bronze medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich.
He competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics as well.
The last rites of Dhayan Chand Awardee Varinder Singh will be decided later today.

On the unfortunate death of the legendary hockey player, the Surjit Hockey Society extended condolences and said, "We all the Members of the Surjit Hockey Society pray to the Almighty to give the family members courage and strength to bear this irreparable loss and grant eternal peace to the departed soul."
