Now, there will be only one toll collection within 60 km distance: Nitin Gadkari
New Delhi, March 22: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday announced in the Lok Sabha that all toll collecting points that are located within 60 km of each other on national highways would be shut in the next three months. He said there would be only one toll collection within 60 km distance. He was replying to a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the roads and highways allocation of the budget for the fiscal year commencing April 1. Also read | Delhi: Two-month-old baby found dead inside microwave oven On upcoming roads, Nitin Gadkari said the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway was being readied. The Delhi-Amritsar section would be done by the end of this year and the distance would be covered in four hours. The Srinagar-Jammu road would have a connection to join the upcoming Katra-Amritsar-Delhi road. By this road, the journey from Srinagar to Mumbai would be done in 20 hours, Nitin Gadkari said. Also the Delhi-Jaipur, the Delhi-Mumbai and the Delhi-Dehradun expressways would be done by the end of the year. While Jaipur and Dehradun would be reachable within two hours each, the Delhi-Mumbai distance would be covered in car within 12 hours.

On road safety, the minister said it was now mandatory that all cars come with six air bags.
