Legendary Lata Mangeshkar has left a legacy of songs that will be treasured by coming generations. With a heavenly voice, wide range and always right expressions, the singer ruled the music industry for over seven decades. Her songs were full of emotion, were often sad and mostly dealt with unrequited love. But, she cannot be described by any genre as some of her songs dealt with national pride and were used to inspire Indians. India's Nightingale's last two recorded music include a ‘Gayatri Mantra’ and a song that was a tribute to the Indian Army. Lata Mangeshkar's last song, 'Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki,' was a tribute to the Indian Army and the country. Mayuresh Pai composed it, and it was released on March 30, 2019. It has garnered over a million views on the LM Music YouTube channel. In the video, the legendary singer said, "A few days ago, I met PM Narendra Modi. He quoted a few words from a poem that I believe is every Indian's 'Mann Ki Baat.' Those lines touched my heart. I have recorded them and I pay a tribute to our soldiers and our country." The couple married on December 12, 2018, and the Mangeshkar’s recording was played during the wedding. Late last year, she had recited a verse from the Bhagavad Gita at an Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Committee, which was the iconic singer's last recorded message. The legendary singer passed away at the age of 92 on Sunday. Mangeshkar was admitted at Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 in early January. She had recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films and sung in over 36 foreign and regional Indian languages. Born in 1929, Lata Mangeshkar was the eldest of five siblings - Asha Bhosle, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar and Meena Mangeshkar. The singer also received the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Awards during her musical career spanning over seventy years.
