'No War': Russian TV channel editor Marina Ovsyannikova interrupts live broadcast
Moscow, March 15: Amid war between Russia and Ukraine, the world wants peace and no violence. Even Russians want the outbreak of the war to come to an end. Recently, a Russian TV channel editor interrupted a live broadcast holding a sign reading, 'No War'. An editor at a Russian TV channel has reportedly been detained for protesting the country's invasion of Ukraine during a live broadcast. Also Read | Why Russia doesn’t want Ukraine want to join NATO | All you need to know In a video shared by Bernie Sanders on Twitter, a woman named Marina Ovsyannikova interrupted the live broadcast by rushing into the camera view holding a sign that reads, "NO WAR. Stop the war. Don't believe the propaganda. They're lying to you here." A few seconds later, the show was abruptly cut away. "She has since been detained," Sanders shared, saluting her "act of incredible courage."
Ovsyannikova was working with state-run Channel 1, as per Russian news agency TASS. She protested during the Vremya newscast. According to a law enforcement source, Ovsyannikova is being held at an Ostankino district police station. As per Russian law, the "public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation" are banned. The war between Russia and Ukraine is still underway despite four rounds of talks between the two countries. On Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry claimed that 20 people have been killed while 28 were injured by a missile launched by the Ukrainian troops. According to the military, the attack occurred in a residential neighborhood in Donetsk with a Tochka-U tactical missile.
