NIA detains Dawood Ibrahim's close aide Salim Fruit

Mumbai, May 9: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained six people, including Salim Fruit, from different areas of Mumbai for interrogation in connection with raids on associates of Pakistan-based gangster Dawood Ibrahim and a few hawala operators. Those detained have been identified as Saleem Fruit, Kayyum, Sami Hingora, Guddu Pathan, Mobina Bhiwandiwala and Aslam Patani, as per an official statement issued by NIA. NIA conducted searches at 24 locations in Mumbai Commissionerate and 5 places in Mira Road Bhayandar Commissionerate on Monday. The raids were conducted in Nagpada, Goregaon, Borivali, Santacruz, Mumbra, Bhendi Bazar, and other locations. The probe agency informed that it had registered a case against hawala operators and drug peddlers who were associated with Dawood in February.
