Nawab Malik's arrest: ED seeks 14-day custody of NCP leader in money laundering case
Mumbai (Maharashtra), February 23: The Enforcement Directorate sought 14-day custody of NCP leader and Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik in connection with Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case on Wednesday.
The Nationalist Congress Party leader was arrested earlier in the day by Enforcement Directorate. Malik, reportedly, was not cooperating during the interrogation.
Soon after his arrest, Malik said that he is not scared and will fight and win.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded Malik's resignation and threatened to protest if he did not step down.
Earlier, facing a fresh grilling on Wednesday, Nawab Malik was probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the money laundering case for six hours.
According to ED sources, the investigating agency interrogated Malik over an alleged land deal linked with fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim's brother Iqbal Kaskar. The ED had summoned the minister in the morning and brought him to its office.

Last week, the ED had conducted raids at the residence of Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena Parkar in Mumbai in connection with the money laundering case.
The ED had also conducted searches at 10 different locations related to Haseena Parkar in Nagpada. The agency had also questioned Dawood's nephew and Parkar's son Alishah Parkar and Chota Shakeel's henchman, Salim Qureshi, aka Salim Fruits.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra NCP chief and state minister Jayant Patil said party colleague Nawab Malik was taken to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office without prior information, adding that the BJP was taking revenge from him for 'exposing' its leaders.
"Nawab Malik has been taken to the ED office for questioning, without any prior information. He had exposed BJP leaders in the past few days, so revenge is being taken now," said Patil while talking to the media.
