National Doctors’ Day 2022: Doctors’ also known as messiah, physicians, clinicians and medical practitioners, are healthcare professionals who diagnose, advise and treat our illnesses and save our lives using their knowledge and practice.
Every year, National Doctors’ Day is observed to honor doctors and their contributions to people’s lives and communities. Different countries observe this day on different dates, but the Indian Medical Association organizes National Doctors’ Day on July 1.

National Doctor’s Day- History
The celebrations for National Doctors' Day in India began in 1991 on July 1 to honour Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, or B.C. Roy, whose birth and death anniversary, both fall on July 1. B.C. Roy was a famous physician and freedom fighter from West Bengal. He also became the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1948 till his death in 1962. Therefore, since 1991 every year National Doctors' Day is celebrated on July 1.

National Doctors' Day not only treat and heal patients but also educate and prepare future generations of doctors in the nation. The day highlights the contributions of doctors to the society - the fact that they work round the clock to keep a check on their patients.

The theme for National Doctors’ Day 2022 in India is “Family Doctors on the Front Line." The theme highlights the contribution of doctors for their service and dedication towards humanity.
