Young IPS officer Harsh Bardhan dies in tragic accident en route first posting
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic incident, a young IPS officer, Harsh Bardhan, lost his life in a road accident while travelling to take up his first posting in Hassan district, Karnataka. The accident occurred on Sunday evening near Kittane in Hassan Taluk, the police said on Monday.
Harsh Bardhan, in his twenties, was a 2023-batch IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre and hailed from Madhya Pradesh. He had recently completed his probationary training at the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru and was en route to assume duty as the Assistant Superintendent of Police in Holenarasipur.
According to police, the accident was caused by a tyre burst in the police vehicle Bardhan was travelling in. The driver lost control, leading the vehicle to crash into a house and a tree by the roadside.
Bardhan sustained severe head injuries and succumbed to them at the hospital during treatment. The driver, Manjegowda, suffered minor injuries and is undergoing medical care. The untimely death of the officer has shocked the police department and the wider community, with tributes pouring in for his service and dedication at the beginning of a promising career.
