Wooden platform collapses at Delhi's Kalkaji Mandir; one dead, 17 injured

PTC News Desk: One person was killed and 17 others were injured after a wooden platform and iron frame at a Mata Jagran in Delhi's famous Kalkaji Mandir collapsed on the intervention night of Saturday and Sunday.

According to the images, several devotees climbed on stage after becoming excited while hymns were being sung. As a result, the stage collapsed, causing chaos as devotees ran here and there.


According to police, no permission was granted to hold the event. There were approximately 1500-1600 people present to witness Goddess Durga's jagrata (overnight awakening) in the temple's Mahant Parisar. 

Following the tragic accident, the city police crime team visited the scene. All of the other injured are in stable condition, with only a few suffering fractures.

The police have filed a case against the organisers under sections 337/304A/188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
