Who is Admiral Dinesh Tripathi? Here's all about Indian Navy Chief
PTC Web Desk: Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi took command of the Indian Navy as the 26th Chief of Naval Staff on April 30. He succeeds Admiral R. Hari Kumar, who retired after more than 40 years of service.
Admiral Tripathi, the Indian Navy's most senior officer, has held several positions, most recently as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.

Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi was born on May 15, 1964.
He was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on July 1, 1985.
He attended advanced courses at the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, the Naval Higher Command Course in Karanja, and the Naval Command College at the United States Naval War College, USA.
He was a communication and electronic warfare specialist who served on frontline Navy warships as a signal communication officer and an electronic warfare officer before becoming the executive officer and principal warfare officer of the guided missile destroyer INS Mumbai. His sea commands include the INS Vinash, Kirch, and Trishul.
After being promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, he served as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) at Naval Headquarters and as the flag officer commanding the eastern fleet.
After being promoted to Vice Admiral, he served as the commandant of the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala, Kerala; Director General of Naval Operations and Chief of Personnel in New Delhi; and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command in Mumbai.
Before becoming Navy Chief, he served as Vice Chief of Naval Staff.
