PTC News Desk: Mumbai had significant waterlogging in several areas of the city on Sunday as a result of the city's heavy overnight rainfall.

A number of locations, including the surroundings of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), were submerged, and the bustling Andheri metro was impacted. Because to the severe rain, there were also significant traffic backups on the Western Expressway.

Meanwhile, the districts of Thane and Raigad are expected to have heavy showers on Sunday morning, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Early in the morning, IMD Mumbai posted on X (previously Twitter): "Intense spells of rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in Raigad and Thane during the next three to four hours."

The Maximum City's civic organization, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has earlier urged residents to remain at home "unless necessary."

"Heavy to extremely heavy rain is predicted by the IMD in an orange alert. People shouldn't leave their homes unless absolutely necessary, the BMC stated in a statement the day before.

The districts of Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg in Maharashtra's Konkan area were also under the orange warning for Saturday.

As for Mumbai, which has been seeing a lot of rain lately, the city was hit by showers on Saturday morning as well, which resulted in waterlogging in the streets and traffic jams on a number of key roads.

The meteorological authority predicts that the highest and minimum temperatures will be approximately 29 and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.
