Weather update: IMD puts Punjab, Haryana and Himachal on high alert; deets inside
Monsoon fury: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall for several states, including Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka, on Monday.
In addition, the IMD has also issued heavy rain warnings for Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.
As a precautionary measure, educational institutes in the Kannur, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts have been declared closed for Monday following the issuance of an orange alert by the weather department. Similarly, an orange alert has been issued for Kasarkode, while a yellow alert is in effect for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Malappuram.
Despite the alerts, there will be no changes to the scheduled Kannur University PSC exams, as confirmed by a statement.
Kerala has been experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall since July 8, impacting various parts of the state and Lakshadweep.
Meanwhile, the national capital, Delhi, witnessed heavy rains in several areas on Sunday evening, leading to a flood-like situation in low-lying regions due to the swollen Yamuna river.
The Yamuna River in Delhi has crossed the danger mark again due to an increase in discharge from the Hathnikund Barrage, raising concerns about the possibility of another round of floods in the capital. Authorities have been advising residents in low-lying areas to evacuate for safety.
As the weather conditions remain unpredictable and intense rainfall persists in various regions, authorities and citizens are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
