Weather Update | The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Delhi will experience very heavy rainfall over the next two days, following the city's heaviest monsoon downpour in 88 years.
Signalling authorities to be prepared severe weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) also issued an orange alert for heavy rains for the next four days.
The IMD has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day, with even heavier spells expected on Sunday and Monday.
Several areas in Delhi, including Rohini and Burari, have already received rainfall this morning. The weather office also anticipates thunderstorms and heavy rain for the next seven days.
Moderate rainfall is classified as 7.6 to 35.5 mm in a day, while heavy rainfall ranges from 64.5 to 124.4 mm in a day. Today's minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, with a maximum expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are currently at 80%.
In its meteorological bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that a thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph is highly likely this weekend in isolated areas of Delhi and surrounding states.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas around Delhi on June 29 and 30.
Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for Punjab with the prediction of heavy rainfall over the next two days, June 30 and July 1.

“The monsoon entered the state yesterday in Pathankot and is expected to spread to the other parts of the state in more waves,” IMD Chandigarh director Ajay Kumar Singh stated.
