Viral video sparks action: UP Police bust drug trafficking ring in Lucknow
PTC News Desk: Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force arrested four people in the state's capital who were reportedly involved in an international drug ring.
The arrests were made on Sunday after a video of some young men and women seen counting stacks of Indian currency notes and having a party involving the use of drugs and alcohol in a room at a guest house in Gomti Nagar in the city surfaced on Instagram and other social media networks. The accused were arrested with Rs 6.57 lakh in cash, a car, two watches, and six mobile phones.
The STF was responding to a report that drugs were being trafficked in the city by international drug smugglers.
Inspector Pramod Kumar Verma, Satya Prakash Singh, chief constable Neeraj Mishra, chief constables Prabhat Kumar, Pradeep Chowdhary, Harinath Singh, and Sonam Kumari from the Gomti Nagar police station comprised the STF team.
During interrogation, the arrested individuals revealed that their friend Aryan used to buy and sell illegal narcotics and substances on a global scale using various mobile phone applications, and they also assisted him in this activity.
The accused revealed that Aryan and his associate Lucky were the masterminds of the drug ring.
The gang used to throw rave parties at various hotels across the city, and a viral video of one such party went viral on July 16. According to the arrested accused, Aryan gave them around Rs 7 lakh and ordered them to go into hiding to avoid police action.
The suspects were nabbed and police said they are still looking for Aryan and Lucky, who eluded arrest.
