PTC News Desk: A young man who stabbed a doctor multiple times at a Chennai hospital tossed away the knife and walked calmly to the exit when witnesses yelled "he cut him up" and security personnel caught him.

A video released hours after the incident shows the accused, Vignesh, walking away after stabbing Dr Balaji Jagannath, an oncologist and teacher at the state-run Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital. The doctor was treating the attacker's mother, who had cancer. The attacker allegedly suspected that the doctor gave the wrong medication to this mother.

According to a doctor, Dr Balaji has a pacemaker and has suffered injuries to his forehead, back, behind his ear, and stomach. Ma Subramanian, Tamil Nadu's Health Minister, stated that he is in the intensive care unit and that his condition is stable.

In the video, the attacker is seen walking while pulling the knife used in the attack from his pocket. After what looks to be an attempt to clean the blood from the blade, he throws the knife into the shaft and continues walking.

The man recording the video can be heard saying, "Catch him at least now." The accused asks, "What if your mother or father were in trouble?" The guards are holding the accused amid chaos and allegations that "he cut him up." As the mob turns angry and begins to attack him, a woman intervenes and stops them. He was later turned over to the police.
