Uttarakhand: Gangotri Dham, the highest temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga in Uttarkashi has been enveloped in a pristine white blanket of snow following recent snowfall. 

This transformation has turned the sacred site into a picturesque winter wonderland, captivating visitors with its serene beauty.


The serene atmosphere and the purity of the snow-covered landscape offer a tranquil experience for pilgrims and tourists alike.

Visuals showed the Gangotri Dham shrouded in white after the snowfall.

A white covering of snow was visible on the Gangotri temple premises and surrounding areas.
As temperatures drop and the region experiences more snowfall, Gangotri Dham continues to attract visitors seeking spiritual solace and natural beauty. The sight of the snow-covered temple and surrounding areas serves as a reminder of the region's spiritual significance and its breathtaking natural charm.

The Gangotri Temple, where Goddess Ganga is worshipped, stands at a height of 20 feet and boasts of exquisite carvings on white granite.

Atal Tunnel at Rohtang Pass receives fresh snowfall 

The Atal Tunnel at Rohtang Pass in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh also received fresh snowfall on Saturday.

The recent snowfall has transformed the surroundings of the Atal Tunnel into a winter wonderland, painting the landscape in a pristine white hue. The tunnel, which serves as a vital lifeline connecting the Lahaul Valley with the rest of Himachal Pradesh, now stands amidst the picturesque snow-covered mountains, creating a mesmerizing sight for visitors.

IMD issues snow alert in these districts 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), earlier, issued an alert for the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and some parts of Lahaul-Spiti, saying rain or snowfall was predicted to lash these areas over 3 days, starting March 28.
