Uttar Pradesh: Woman's hijab stripped off, man accompanying her beaten in Muzaffarnagar

PTC News Desk: A woman was allegedly stripped off her hijab in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar on Tuesday. A hindu man accompanying the woman was also brutally beaten by a group of men. The video of the incident is doing rounds on social media which has sparked massive outrage. 


The video of the incident shows a man forcibly removing the hijab while other hurling abuses and physically assaulting her and the man who was accompanying her.

The altercation occurred in a narrow lane in Khalapar area when the duo, 20-year-old Farheen and a man named Sachin, were going to collect a loan instalment. The entire incident was captured in a mobil hone by an onlooker who later circulated the video drawing immediatete intervention from authorities. 

Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot, dispersed the mob, and escorted the duo safely to the police station.

"On April 12, between approximately 4 and 4:30 PM, a Hindu man from Bhavan area and a Muslim woman from Khalapar, both associated with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank, were returning from Sujdu after collecting a loan installment. They were stopped and assaulted by some locals in Darzi Wali Gali," Muzaffarnagar City Circle Officer (CO) Raju Kumar Sao stated.

The accused were later arrested based on the complaint filed by the woman.
