PTC Web Desk:  In a tragic accident at a fair in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, a teenage girl suffered severe injuries after her hair became caught in a swing’s roller, resulting in the complete detachment of her scalp. The horrifying moment was captured on video, which shows the girl's hair and scalp suspended from the ride's rod as panicked onlookers worked to stop the ferris wheel.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening at a fair in Madhonagar village, Talgram police station area, left 13-year-old Anuradha Katheria with profuse head injuries. Witnesses described a scene of chaos as she collapsed and lost consciousness due to significant blood loss. The viral video of the incident, which surfaced online on Monday, depicted the extent of her injuries, with her entire scalp detached by the time the ride halted.

Initially, her family rushed her to a local private hospital in Gursahaiganj, but as her condition worsened, she was moved to PGI in Lucknow.

The annual two-day fair in Madhonagar, organised by Shri Shri 1008 Swami Nityananda Seva Samiti, features religious events, processions, and various rides for visitors.

Safety experts stress the importance of adhering to safety measures on fair rides. They advise riders to remain seated until the ride stops completely and ensure that safety restraints, including belts and harnesses, are properly secured before the ride begins. These restraints are crucial for preventing falls during sudden movements, sharp turns, or high speeds. Experts also warn against standing up, leaning out, or tampering with safety equipment while the ride is in motion. Additionally, securing loose items like hair, hats, dupattas, sarees, sunglasses, and jewellery is essential to prevent items from falling or becoming entangled, as seen in the unfortunate incident in Kannauj.
