Union minister Shivraj Singh writes to Delhi CM Atishi over farmers' plight, says 'AAP govt should rise above party politics'

PTC News Desk: Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written a letter to Delhi chief minister Atishi on January 1 over the plight of farmers in national capital. In his letter, Union Minister has criticised Delhi government for not implementing the schemes of Centre pertaining to farm sector while stating that “political competition” should not become an obstacle to the welfare of farmers.

Chouhan also took a potshot over AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal's poll promises and welfare freebies schemes to voo the voters of national capital. “As soon as Kejriwal came to power, instead of taking public welfare decisions, he cried about his own problems,” Chouhan said.

“Due to non-implementation of the Centre’s agricultural schemes in Delhi, farmer brothers and sisters have not been able to avail the benefits of many schemes, including the establishment of nurseries and tissue culture, supply of planting material, construction of infrastructure for post-harvest management, new orchards, poly houses and cold chain subsidy, he said.

He further slammed Delhi government of keeping party politics above the interests of farmers which have become obstruction to their welfare. “Political competition should not become an obstacle to farmers’ welfare. Farmers’ welfare is the duty of all governments… The AAP government should rise above party politics and take decisions in the interest of farmers," he further added.
