Union Budget Live Updates: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her record eighth budget today. The industrialists and taxpayers are eyeing on major announcements that would ease burden on them and pave way for sustainable economic growth. The middle class of the country who is expecting some relief is currently struggling with high prices and stagnant wage growth.
As per the Economic survey tabled on Friday, India’s GDP growth for FY 2025-26 is projected to range between 6.3% and 6.8%. The survey highlighted that all sectors are performing well, based on a trend analysis of quarterly de-seasonalised national income data.

The services sector has also seen robust growth, nearing its trend levels. Retail headline inflation has decreased from 5.4% in FY24 to 4.9% between April and December 2024, as per the Economic Survey.
During the Budget Session, sixteen bills, including the Finance Bill 2025, amendments to the Waqf and Banking Regulations Act, and the merging of the Indian Railways and Indian Railways Board Acts, are likely to be tabled.
