Two French cyclists on their way to Kathmandu, stranded in Bareilley as Google maps suggested wrong route
PTC News Desk: Two French tourist cyclists who were supposed to travel from Delhi to Kathmandu were left stranded in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilley at around midnight after they took a wrong cut as suggested by Google maps.
"They had to go to Kathmandu in Nepal via Tanakpur from Pilibhit...Google Maps showed them a shortcut via Baheri in Bareilly, due to which they got lost and reached Churaili Dam," said a police official.
The tourists who were cycling during midnight were spotted by some local villagers and subsequently taken to police stations where police lodged the cyclists at the village Pradhan's house for the night and sent them on their way on Friday with route instructions.
Senior police official Anurag Arya was informed about the situation and reached out to the tourists and spoke to them. He further directed officials to guide them and en route them towards their destination with proper instructions.
Gilbert and Gabriel flew from Paris to Delhi on January 7.
