PTC News Desk: Two young army officers and their female friends were brutally attacked by a group of armed miscreants near Jam Gate in Indore district, Madhya Pradesh, late Tuesday evening. The assailants, initially appearing to have the intent of looting, viciously assaulted the officers and gang-raped one of the women.

The police have since arrested two of the accused, one of whom has a criminal record.

The officers, undergoing training at Mhow Army College, had gone out with the women near the firing range at Chhoti Jam in the afternoon when they were suddenly surrounded by eight men armed with pistols, knives, and sticks. The attackers severely beat the officers and their companions before robbing them of their valuables.

The situation escalated when the attackers took one officer and a woman hostage, demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. They sent the other officer and the second woman to fetch the money. In a state of panic, the officer returned to his unit and immediately informed his commanding officer, who swiftly alerted the police.

A response team from Dial-100, along with military personnel, rushed to the scene. However, the attackers fled upon noticing the approaching vehicles. The victims were taken to Mhow Civil Hospital for medical examinations around 6:30 am, where doctors confirmed that the officers had sustained injuries. Medical tests also confirmed the rape of one of the women.

According to Lokendra Singh Hirore, in charge of the Badgonda police station, a case has been registered under relevant sections pertaining to robbery, dacoity, rape, and the Arms Act. Indore Rural SP Hitika Vasal stated that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining criminals involved in the heinous crime.
