Journalist brutally attacked: A group of unidentified men brutally attacked a journalist in Tamil Nadu late Wednesday night. The victim is said to be in critical condition and is fighting for his life.

Nesa Prabhu, a television journalist from the state's Tiruppur district, has been reporting on liquor-related violations and malpractices, according to local journalists.

The journalist reportedly made several desperate calls to the police control room, informing them that he was being followed by a group of men riding bikes without licence plates and asking for help. However, he was instructed to report to the nearest police station and file a complaint.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin condemned the attack and promised harsh punishment for the perpetrators. He also ordered that a police inspector be placed on a waiting list for alleged inaction, despite the journalist's repeated pleas before the attack.

Stalin also provided Rs 3 lakh for Prabhu's treatment and stated, "I am pained. Whoever is responsible for this attack will face severe action."

Media reports claim that according to audio recordings of Prabhu's calls to the police, the journalist requested protection from an unidentified gang that was tailing him on motorcycles without number plates.

Prabhu claimed that the gang had previously inquired about him at a shop and visited his home in a car while his mother was alone.
