PTC News Desk: The Uniform Civil Code tabled in Uttarakhand Assembly aims is to create a single legal framework that governs personal matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption for all citizens, the newly tables UCC draws focus on the live-in relationships.
The implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand will require individuals involved in or considering live-in relationships to register with district officials. Once the law is enacted, those below the age of 21 will need parental consent for live-in arrangements. The mandatory registration also applies to individuals residing in Uttarakhand, but engaging in live-in relationships outside the state.

The gruesome and spine-chilling murder incident sent shockwaves across Nation wherein a 23-year-year old Haryana girl Nikki Yadav who was in live-in relationship with her 24-year-old boyfriend Sahil Gehlot was allegedly killed with a charging cable and stuffed her body inside a refrigerator in his family’s dhaba in Mitraon village, located in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh after the two had a very heated argument.
The horrific and fatal crime unfolded on February 9, 2023 in the Kashmiri Gate area, Delhi.
Nikki Yadav was a native of Jhajjar in Haryana and was pursuing her post-graduation in English from Greater Noida’s Galgotia College and the couple used to live together in live-in relationship.
Shraddha Walkar Murder Case is considered as one of the most gruesome and horrifying live-in relationship cases of 2023 wherein Shraddha Walkar a 27-year-old Indian woman was murdered by her 28-year-old boyfriend and live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala in Delhi on 18 May 2022.
The 28-year-old, dismembered Shraddha's body and stored the chopped body parts in a refrigerator before disposing of them in the forests of south Delhi's Chhatarpur, is currently in Judicial custody.
28-year-old Aaftab Poonawala strangled his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar over an argument and then proceeded to dismember her body into 35 pieces, allegedly to have preserved the chopped body parts in a refrigerator before dumping them in forested areas in Delhi and Gurugram.
Poonawala was arrested by the Delhi Police on 12 November 2022.
Megha Dhansingh Torvi, a nurse by profession, had been in a relationship with Hardik for six months. With Hardik being unemployed, Megha was the sole breadwinner of the household.
The couple reportedly had a huge fight on February 12, 2023 after which Hardik strangled Torvi to death. After that Hardik kept Megha's body inside a single bed cavity and sold other furniture for money.
