Top Lashkar commander plotted Pahalgam massacre leaving 26 dead : Sources
PTC News Desk: At least 26 people, including two foreign nationals, lost their lives in one of the most devastating terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years. The assailants, suspected to be affiliated with The Resistance Front—a splinter group of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)—opened fire on tourists at the well-known Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday afternoon, triggering chaos in the remote mountainous area.
Intelligence agencies have identified Saifullah Kasuri, also known as Khalid, a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, along with two operatives based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), as the key masterminds behind the massacre.
The attack sparked widespread outrage across the country and led Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cut short his official visit to Saudi Arabia. He returned to New Delhi early Wednesday to lead an emergency session of the Cabinet Committee on Security.
As the country mourns the tragic death of innocent tourists, the coffins carrying the victims of the terror attack were brought to the Srinagar airport. Several state government representatives have arrived in Srinagar to facilitate the return home of victims and tourists from their respective states.
