'Throw my ashes in drain': UP techie dies by suicide, accuses wife of torture in video
PTC News Desk: A 33-year-old field engineer died by suicide in a hotel room in Uttar Pradesh's Noida after accusing wife and in-laws of torture. Before taking his life, he recorded a video detailing the mental harassment he faced from his wife and her family.
The deceased has been identified as Mohit Kumar wo claimed that he was being pressurised to transfer all his property to his wife's and in-laws' names and was threatened with false dowry charges.
Mohit said, "By the time you get this video, I will be gone from this world. If there was a law for men, maybe I wouldn’t have taken this step. I couldn’t bear the mental torture by my wife and her family. Mom, Dad, please forgive me."
Mohit further said, "My wife, Priya Yadav’s mother, forced the abortion of our child and kept all the jewellery and sarees with her. My wife is threatening me that if I don’t transfer the house and property in her name, she will file a false dowry case against me and my family."
According to the reports, Mohit, a native of Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh married Priya Yadav after having a long term relationship. However, things took a rough turn after Priya secured a job as primary teacher in Bihar's Samastipur. Mohit's family alleged that Priya under the influence of her mother and brother starting harassing Mohit.
Mohit's brother, Taran Pratap, said, "My brother Mohit was working with a cement company in Noida. That’s where he met Priya, and they got into a relationship that lasted seven years before we arranged their marriage. Everything was fine for the first three months, but then Priya started torturing him. She separated him from the family and began pressuring him to transfer property in her name, threatening false legal cases. Her brother and mother were also making threats. Under this pressure, my brother took his own life. He recorded the video the night before and uploaded it to his social media account."
After the post-mortem, Mohit’s body was handed over to his family, who took it to Auraiya for cremation.
