Three soldiers killed in encounter in J&K's Kulgam, search for terrorists continue
Army soldiers killed: Three Army personnel, who were injured during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, have succumbed to their injuries.
"The three injured jawans succumbed to their injuries. Search operations are ongoing," Indian Army said.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Friday that the jawans were getting medical treatment at a hospital.
The encounter reportedly broke out in the high reaches of the Halan forest area in Kulgam district on Friday.
The encounter started after the officials received specific information about the presence of terrorists in the Halan forests area. Army conducted the operation in coordination with the police.
The soldiers came under heavy fire as they closed in on the terrorists. Three jawans were killed in the encounter.
"On specific inputs regarding presence of terrorists on higher reaches of Halan in Kulgam, operations launched by Security Forces on 04 Aug 23. In exchange of firing with terrorists, three personnel sustained injuries and later succumbed. Search operations are continuing," Army's 15 Corps said.
