Thick fog causes visibility drop in Delhi, leading to train delays
PTC News Desk: Delhi residents awoke to challenging weather conditions on Tuesday as dense fog enveloped the city, reducing visibility and impacting normal life. The situation extended to various cities in neighbouring states such as Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana, contributing to an overall foggy atmosphere.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), "Very dense fog in isolated pockets of northwest Rajasthan; dense fog in isolated pockets of east Uttar Pradesh; moderate fog in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana and West UP and shallow fog in isolated pockets of Delhi" was anticipated for January 30.
Several key areas in Delhi, including Janpath Road, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, and Nirankari Colony, found themselves under a thick blanket of fog on Tuesday morning, leading to reduced visibility on roadways. The IMD predicted that the minimum temperature in the national capital would hover around 8 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature expected to reach approximately 22 degrees Celsius.
The dense fog significantly impacted flight operations, leading to disruptions at Delhi Airport. In a statement, the airport authorities mentioned, "While landings and take-offs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III complaint may get affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted."
