PTC News Desk: Active terrorists will either be sent to jail or jahannum (hell), said Minister of State of Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Wednesday. His response comes amid a spate of recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

In response to a supplementary question posed by Congress MP Pramod Tiwari, the minister stated that terrorists' plans will fail and that their operations will soon come to a stop.

Nityanand Rai stated that the Narendra Modi government has zero tolerance for terrorism.

He said that security personnel in the union territory had killed 28 terrorists in recent days.

"Modi government has zero tolerance for terrorism. We will eliminate terrorism. They (terrorists) will be either in jail or jahannum... I want to assure the House," he said. He claimed that terrorism instances in Jammu and Kashmir had dropped from 7,217 under the UPA's administration to 2259 in July of this year.

"These should not have happened. It is unfortunate, but they (the opposition) should not make it a political issue," the minister said.

Rai told the House that 2,829 citizens and security officers died between 2004 and 2014. This number has decreased by 67% since 2014. There has also been a 69% decline in terrorist attacks.

"In the last few days, 28 terrorists have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir. It's unfortunate that some of our soldiers have been killed in the firefighting. The soldiers killed are far fewer than the terrorists eliminated," he stated.
