Tension in Haryana's Nuh: VHP's 'Braj Mandal Yatra' faces stone pelting; several vehicles set ablaze

Tension in Haryana:  Nuh district witnessed heightened tension today as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal's 'Braj Mandal Yatra' came under attack, with stones hurled and cars set ablaze.

In response to the escalating situation, the Haryana government took precautionary measures and suspended mobile internet services in Nuh district from July 31 (4 pm) to August 2 (11.59 pm). This move aims to prevent the spread of misinformation and rumors through social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, etc., and SMS.

The district is currently under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Though there are reports of firing between opposing parties, the police are yet to confirm the details.

Aerial firing was also employed by the police to disperse the crowds. The attack has been attributed to local groups who had previously warned against the yatra, particularly after cow vigilante Monu Manesar, one of the accused in the Nasir-Junaid case, announced his intention to join it.

Furthermore, internet services have been suspended, and tensions remain high in the aftermath of the violent clash. Many people were injured during the confrontation, and vehicles were set on fire. Claims have emerged that Bittu Bajrangi, another cow vigilante from Faridabad, instigated the attack through abusive videos shared during the yatra.

The yatra has been temporarily suspended, with over ten injured individuals being rushed to hospitals for medical attention. Tight security has been deployed on the Rajasthan border as a significant influx of people from Rajasthan has been observed in Nuh, adding to the communal tension.

As SP Varun Singla is currently on leave, senior officials are managing the situation, aiming to restore peace in the region. Amid the ongoing tension, markets across Mewat are closing down as a precautionary measure.
