'No re-examination for NEET': Supreme Court declines to cancel NEET-UG 2024 exam

'No re-examination for NEET': Supreme Court refuses to cancel the NEET-UG 2024 exam. SC says the demand for the cancellation of the exam is not justified.

Supreme Court says it realises that directing a fresh NEET-UG for the present year would be replete with serious consequences which will be for over 24 lakh students who appeared in this exam.

The Court found no evidence suggesting that the leak was widespread enough to undermine the integrity of the entire exam.

The Court acknowledged that there were instances of paper leaks at centers in Hazaribag and Patna but determined that there was insufficient evidence to conclude that these incidents had affected the exam’s overall validity. The Court expressed concerns that ordering a re-examination could have severe consequences for over 23 lakh students and disrupt the academic schedule, potentially causing long-term issues.

Notably, NEET-UG examination, conducted by NTA, is the pathway for admissions into MBBS, BDS and AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country.

The NEET-UG, 2024 was held across 4,750 centres on May 5 and around 24 lakh candidates appeared in it.
