Sonepat court summons Arvind Kejriwal over 'poisonous Yamuna' remark
PTC News Desk: A Sonepat court has summoned former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on February 17 on a plea against his remarks accusing the BJP government in Haryana of “poisoning” Yamuna river.
The summon has been issued on the complaint of Haryana Government against AAP supremo through the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), the court has sought a reply from Kejriwal and asked him to appear in person before the court on February 17.
“If he (Kejriwal) does not appear before the court on the next date of hearing, it is deemed that he has nothing to say in the matter and further proceedings shall be conducted in accordance with the law,” the court said.
“The Haryana government has filed the case under the Disaster Management Act before a court in Sonepat against former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal who had accused the state government of supplying ‘poisoned’ Yamuna water to the national capital,” Haryana’s revenue and disaster management minister Vipul Goel said.
Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goel while describing Arvind Kejriwal's statement as “absurd and misleading” said that Election Commission should take strict cognisance of such baseless remarks.
