Search underway in J&K’s Kathua after woman claims sightings of 4 Pahalgam attack suspects

PTC Web Desk: Security forces launched an intensive search operation in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday after a local woman reported having seen four suspected terrorists believed to be involved in the recent Pahalgam massacre that left 26 dead.

Acting on the woman’s statement, teams from the J&K Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) swiftly reached the location and initiated a full-scale combing operation. The area has been cordoned off as the authorities search for potential leads.

Simultaneously, anti-terror operations were also underway in Pulwama and Baramulla districts. In Baramulla’s Pattan area, the local police conducted a raid at the residence of Ghulam Mohammad Ganaie, suspected of links with the banned outfit Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF).

The raid, carried out in the presence of an executive magistrate, led to the seizure of incriminating material connected to the JKNF. The seized items have been cataloged as evidence, and further legal action is pending as the investigation progresses.

Earlier this week, 26 men — mostly tourists — were gunned down by terrorists in the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, marking one of the most horrific civilian attacks in Kashmir in recent memory. The Resistance Front (TRF), affiliated with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its founder Hafiz Saeed, claimed responsibility for the carnage.
