Sabarmati Express derails near Kanpur; several trains cancelled; Railways issue emergency helpline numbers
Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), August 17: Sabarmati Express (Train No. 19168) derailed between Kanpur and Bhimsen stations in Uttar Pradesh early Saturday morning, Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the scene, as confirmed by Indian Railways officials.
The Indian Railways swiftly responded by dispatching buses to the site to safely transport passengers to Kanpur. Additionally, an 8-coach MEMU rake was sent at 5.21 am to assist in ferrying passengers to their destination.
Preliminary reports suggest that the derailment may have been caused by a boulder striking the engine, severely damaging its cattle guard. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
