Rishabh Pant's face was covered in blood, clothes torn: Eyewitness shares details of accident
Rishabh Pant Accident: Rishabh Pant, who was involved in a horrific car accident on Friday morning, was rescued by a local driver, who ensured that the Indian cricketer escaped the burning vehicle safely.
The 25-year-old Indian star luckily escaped any major injury and is currently undergoing treatment at Max Hospital in Dehradun.
A bus driver named Susheel Kumar was one of the first to help Rishabh Pant. He was driving on the opposite side of the road when he noticed Pant's car colliding and being pushed to the other side of the road by the force of the impact.
According to Kumar, he also noticed that the car was about to catch fire and that sparks were shooting out of it.
"At 4:25 a.m., our bus departed Haridwar. I was driving along when I noticed a car that had gotten unstable and crashed into the divider. Following the collision, the car landed on the wrong side of the road, which leads to Delhi. I immediately applied the brakes after seeing the car screech into the second lane of the road. Because the car had already caught fire, I and the conductor rushed to get him out. The fire had already started by then. Then three more people came running to get him to safety," told Susheel to the media.
Pant was trying to escape by breaking a window, and Susheel assisted him in reaching safety. The bus driver went on to say that he had no idea the person he was assisting was cricketer Rishabh Pant until the player himself identified himself.
He called an ambulance and even tried to reach Rishabh's mother after obtaining her phone number from him. Pant's face was bloodied, his clothes were torn, and he had scratches all over his body from the car sliding at high speed, he said.
"We started yelling for help, but no one came. No one answered when I called the National Highway. Then I ran up to the cops, and the conductor sought an ambulance. We kept asking him if he was okay. I gave him some water. After regrouping, he told us he is Rishabh Pant. I don't follow cricket, so I had no idea who he was until my conductor told me, 'Sushil... he is an India cricketer' " Susheel said.
