Republic Day parade rehearsal may impact Delhi traffic: Police issue advisory
New Delhi, January 23: In anticipation of the Republic Day parade full-dress rehearsal, central Delhi may experience disruptions in vehicular traffic, as announced by the police in an advisory.
The rehearsal, mirroring the Republic Day parade route, will commence at 10:30 am from Vijay Chowk, proceeding through Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg, concluding at the Red Fort, as outlined in the advisory.
To facilitate the smooth flow of the parade, Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate has been closed from 6 pm on Monday, reopening at the conclusion of the rehearsal on Tuesday. From 11 pm on Monday until the parade's completion, there will be no cross-traffic on Kartavya Path at Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road. C-Hexagon-India Gate will be closed to traffic from 9:15 am until the parade crosses Tilak Marg, as per the advisory.
Starting at 10:30 am, traffic in both directions will be restricted on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg. Cross-traffic will be permitted based on the parade's movement, according to the advisory.
Commuters are urged to plan their journeys in advance and avoid the parade route from 9:30 am to 1 pm. Metro services will remain operational from all stations during the rehearsal, with boarding and de-boarding restricted at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations from 5 am to noon, as mentioned in the advisory.
