Republic Day 2024: Delhi Police issue advisory; No traffic movement allowed on Kartavya Path

Republic Day 2024: The Delhi Police issued an advisory on Wednesday regarding traffic arrangements and restrictions put in place to ensure the smooth operation of Republic Day celebrations in the national capital.

According to the advisory, the Republic Day parade will begin at 10.30 a.m. from Vijay Chowk and proceed to the Red Fort grounds. A related function will begin at 9.30 a.m. at the National War Memorial, India Gate.


There will be extensive traffic control and restrictions along the parade route. The parade route will include Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, the Subhas Chandra Bose roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhas Marg, and Red Fort, according to the advisory.

Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate will be closed to traffic beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The restrictions will last until the parade is over. According to the advisory, there will be no cross-traffic on Kartavya Path at Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road from 10 p.m. on Wednesday until the parade ends.

C-Hexagon-India Gate will be closed to traffic from 9.15 a.m. on Thursday until the parade crosses Tilak Marg. Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg will be closed to traffic beginning at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, according to the announcement.

The traffic advisory suggested alternative routes that motorists could take.
