In a major development, the High Court has acquitted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the murder case of Dera manager Ranjit Singh.

Ranjit Singh murder case: Big relief for Ram Rahim as High Court acquits Sirsa Dera chief, 4 others

Ranjit Singh murder case: In a major development, the High Court has acquitted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the murder case of Dera manager Ranjit Singh. 

The High Court quashed the decision passed by a special CBI court in the matter and acquitted  Ram Rahim and four others.


Notably, in 2021, a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Panchkula convicted Ram Rahim of conspiracy in the murder of Ranjit Singh in 2002. Four others were also convicted, three for Ranjit's murder and one for conspiring the murder plot.

Ram Rahim Singh and four others were sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to pay a large fine. Ram Rahim was also asked to pay a fine of Rs 31 lakh.

Ranjit Singh murder case

Ranjit Singh, the sect's manager and follower, was shot dead in 2002.

He was killed for his suspected role in the circulation of an anonymous letter detailing how Ram Rahim sexually exploited women. According to the CBI's charge sheet, Ram Rahim then plotted to murder him.
