Ram Temple Event: Which states have declared public holiday, half day on Jan 22?
Ram Temple Event: The grand 'Pran Prathistha' (consecration) ceremony at Ayodhya's Ram Temple on January 22 led the central government to announce a half-day holiday.
A post from news agency ANI on X (formerly Twitter) stated that all central government offices, institutions, and industrial establishments in the country will be closed until 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
The order attached to the post stated that “The Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya will be celebrated on January 22 across India. To enable employees to participate in the celebrations, it has been decided that all Central Government offices, central institutions and central industrial establishments throughout India will be closed for half a day till 14:30 hours on January 22.”
“Due to the overwhelming sentiment of the employees and requests from them, Central Government announces half day closing till 2:30 pm on 22nd January 2024, at all Central Government offices, Central institutions and Central industrial establishments throughout India on the occasion of Ram Temple ‘Pran Pratishtha' ceremony," it stated.

Delhi
A Delhi government has issued an order to close government offices until 2.30 p.m. on January 22.
Haryana
Aside from declaring a dry day, the Manohar Lal Khattar administration has issued a notice stating that all government offices, including schools, colleges, and corporations, will be closed until 2:30 p.m.
Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh government declared a holiday for all state educational institutions on Tuesday, referring to it as a "national festival". Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also declared January 22 a dry day.
Madhya Pradesh
On Friday, the Madhya Pradesh government declared a holiday for all state government and private universities across the state.
Chhattisgarh
On Thursday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced that all government offices will be closed until 2:30 p.m. on January 22.
Maharashtra
Maharashtra government has also declared a public holiday in the state on January 22, when the grand Pran Pratishtha ceremony will be held in Ayodhya. Schools have also declared Monday as a holiday to commemorate the occasion.
Goa
Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, has declared a public holiday in the state. “We have started cleanliness drives in all temples of Sakhali constituency. The Goa government has declared a public holiday for government employees on January 22.”
To commemorate the occasion, the states of Assam, Tripura, Gujarat, and Jammu and Kashmir have declared a half-day public holiday.
The stock market will remain closed on Monday. In some states, such as Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat, slaughterhouses, fish markets, and meat shops will remain closed.
