'Nothing will happen by changing names...today India has power': Rajnath Singh's warning to China
PTC News Desk: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh criticised China for renaming 30 places in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday, saying that while we want to maintain good relations with our neighbours, if someone tries to harm our honour, India now has the power to respond.
Rajnath, speaking at a public rally in Arunachal Pradesh, stated that changing the names will achieve nothing.
"China changed the names of 30 places in Arunachal Pradesh and posted them on its website. I'd like to inform my neighbour that changing the names will have no effect. If we change the names of some Chinese provinces and states tomorrow, will those areas become part of India? Atal Bihari Vajpayee used to say that friends change in life but neighbours do not change," he added.

Meanwhile, China has recently released a list of 30 locations in Arunachal Pradesh in an effort to assert its claim to India's northeastern state. India has consistently rejected China's renaming of places.
The Ministry of External Affairs strongly opposed China's attempt to rename several locations in Arunachal Pradesh, stating that assigning invented names would "not alter the reality that the state will always be an integral and inalienable part of India."
