Rajasthan: Kidnapped and assaulted in Jodhpur, ragpicker's 3-year-old daughter found with bite marks on her face and body
PTC News Desk: In the wake of widespread outrage over the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, a deeply disturbing case of sexual assault has emerged from Jodhpur district, Rajasthan. A three-year-old girl, the daughter of a ragpicker, was reportedly abducted and sexually assaulted by an unidentified man early on Sunday morning.
According to police reports, the toddler was asleep outside a temple with her parents when she was taken by the assailant around 2 am. The child’s parents, who were among the many who sleep in the vicinity of the temple, were unaware of the abduction until the girl was found later in the morning.
At approximately 6:30 am, a local woman setting up her stall discovered the child wrapped in a stole. She noticed that the toddler had visible bruises and bite marks on her lips and back. The woman immediately alerted the authorities.
A senior police official confirmed that upon receiving the report, the police swiftly arrived at the scene and transported the girl to a medical facility, where the assault was confirmed through a medical examination. A forensic team was summoned to examine the area for additional evidence.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anil Kumar stated that CCTV footage from the area captured a man carrying the child away around 2 am. The police are currently scrutinising the footage and working diligently to identify and apprehend the suspect. The girl’s family, originally from Madhya Pradesh, resides in a slum in Jodhpur.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Rajesh Kumar Yadav noted that the child’s father works as a ragpicker, and her mother suffers from mental health issues. The toddler also has a five-year-old brother. Efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the perpetrator, and the investigation into this grave incident continues.
