Rajasthan Assembly polls: Ashok Gehlot shares Sachin Pilot's video in response to PM Modi's 'internal conflict' remark

Rajasthan Assembly poll: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot made a significant move on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a video message from Sachin Pilot, a senior Congress leader, encouraging people to support the Congress party in the upcoming assembly elections. This gesture aimed to dispel rumors of internal discord between the two prominent leaders in the state, countering recent remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who indirectly referred to the power struggle between them during his campaigning for the Rajasthan assembly election.

During his campaign, PM Modi highlighted the persistent lack of resolution between the supposed "rivals" within the Congress, stating that despite occasional reconciliations, internal discord continued. "In cricket, a batsman scores runs for his team. However, within the Congress, there has been so much infighting that instead of scoring runs, its leaders spent five years trying to run each other out," remarked the Prime Minister.

Attempting to diminish speculations about the feud, Sachin Pilot indicated that past issues were resolved within the party. He mentioned meetings with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, stating that the party's higher authority acknowledged his concerns and advised moving forward. NDTV reported Pilot saying, "The party high command told me to forgive and forget and move on."

Addressing controversies, particularly regarding comments like 'nikamma' (useless) attributed to the Rajasthan CM, Pilot suggested leaving such remarks behind. He emphasised maintaining dignity in political discussions, regardless of statements made or implied.

Ashok Gehlot faced inquiries about the delay in issuing poll tickets to members associated with Sachin Pilot's faction. He denied allegations of involvement in the delay, affirming his impartial decisions in favor of Pilot's supporters. Gehlot dismissed any internal rifts within the Rajasthan Congress unit, highlighting that all decisions were being made collectively and favorably for Pilot's supporters.

"The opposition's concern about the selection process revolves around finding discord within the Congress party. I assume you're referring to Sachin Pilot. Every decision is a collective one. I am actively engaged in decisions that favor Sachin Pilot's supporters," stated Gehlot during a press conference, addressing queries surrounding ticket distributions and internal harmony within the Congress party.
