Police seize 13 kg gunpowder, 2900 detonators from house near Assam-Mizoram border
PTC News Desk: Police seized over 13 kg of gunpowder and 2900 detonators in Assam's Cachar district, near the state's border with Mizoram.
According to the officials, the explosives were buried underground in a house near the Assam-Mizoram border. "Based on specific information, we conducted an operation in that area and recovered the explosives. However, the house's owner escaped," police said.
Investigations revealed that Salim Uddin Choudhary, a local businessman, owns the house in the Bhaga area of Cachar's Dholai police station.
Manoj Baruah, chief of the Dholai police station, stated that the matter is being investigated further. "We are trying to find if these explosives were transported from outside Assam," he went on to say.
The police have filed a suo moto case against Choudhary under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and his family members are being questioned as part of the investigation.
