PTC News Desk: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated six new Vande Bharat trains, expanding the network of these semi-high-speed trains to enhance connectivity across various locations.

The announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office highlighted that the Vande Bharat portfolio continues to grow, introducing new train services aimed at improving travel efficiency and passenger comfort. Designed and manufactured under the 'Make in India' initiative, these trains feature advanced technology and luxury amenities for a superior travel experience.

India’s first indigenously designed semi-high-speed train, the Vande Bharat, was first introduced on February 15, 2019. The latest additions to this fleet were flagged off by PM Modi at Tatanagar Junction Railway Station in Jharkhand.

The six new Vande Bharat trains will operate on the following routes:

  • Tatanagar-Patna
  • Brahmapur-Tatanagar
  • Rourkela-Howrah
  • Deoghar-Varanasi
  • Bhagalpur-Howrah
  • Gaya-Howrah

These trains are designed to provide faster connectivity, improved safety, and enhanced passenger amenities. With the introduction of these new services, the total number of Vande Bharat trains in operation rises to 54, having collectively completed approximately 36,000 trips and served over 3.17 crore passengers to date.

The latest model, Vande Bharat 2.0, incorporates advanced features such as rapid acceleration, Kavach safety system, anti-virus technology, and onboard Wi-Fi. The Indian Railways views these developments as a significant leap forward in transforming travel standards in the country.

"With the Vande Bharat Express train services, Indian Railways is set to revolutionize travel in India, reflecting the success of the 'Make in India' initiative and establishing new global benchmarks for speed, safety, and service," stated the Railways Ministry. The expansion of India's rail network promises a future of more seamless, comfortable, and efficient travel for passengers across the nation.
