Passengers attack Maha Kumbh-bound special train after finding doors shut | Watch
PTC Web Desk: A special train traveling from Jhansi to Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh Shahi Snan faced an unexpected attack on Tuesday when passengers stranded at Harpalpur railway station resorted to stone pelting after discovering the compartments were locked. The chaotic incident left several passengers shaken, with videos of the turmoil circulating widely on social media. Some clips captured people attempting to break open the locked doors.
The special train, which departed from Jhansi on Monday night, reached Harpalpur railway station—situated under the Jhansi division—where tensions escalated as a frustrated crowd hurled stones, shattering the train's windows.

Security forces, including the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Police Force (RPF), swiftly intervened to bring the situation under control.
Manoj Kumar, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Jhansi Railway Division, stated, "The incident was immediately reported, and our security teams acted promptly to ensure order was restored. The train has since safely continued its journey to Prayagraj." He also urged passengers to cooperate with each other at railway stations to prevent such incidents in the future.
Kumar reassured travellers that special trains, including Mela Special services, are being deployed to manage the surge in demand during Maha kumbh.
