PTC News Desk: The Central Drug Regulatory Authority (CDRA) has expressed serious concerns about the quality of drugs available in the market. The alarming finding is that the widely used calcium supplement Shelcal 500, the combination drug Pan D, and Vitamin D3 pills manufactured by Life Max Cancer Laboratories failed the drug test.

Furthermore, 49 drug samples were labelled "Not of Standard Quality" (NSQ), including common medicines like paracetamol, Oxytocin, and fluconazole.

The CDRA tested around 3,000 samples, and only about 1.5% were deemed to be substandard.

The following medications are listed as spurious:

Calcium and Vitamin D3 Tablets I.P (SHELCAL 500)

Pantoprazole Gastro-Resistant and Domperidone ProlongedRelease Capsules I.P. (PAN-D)

Tamsulosin and Dutasteride Tablets (UrimaxD)

Nandrolone Decanoate Injection IP 25mg/ml (DecaDurabolin 25 Inj.

Furthermore, the report detailed 49 drugs that failed to meet quality standards, which include:

Neurotem-NT

Cefuroxime Axetil Tablets IP 500 mg (JKMSCL Supply)

Loperamide Hydrochloride Tablets IP (JKMSCL Hospital Supply)

Floxages-OZ (Ofloxacin and Ornidazole Tablets IP)

In response to allegations of making spurious medications, manufacturers have clearly denied responsibility.

They allege that the implicated batches were not produced by them, adding, “The actual manufacturer (as per label claim) has informed that the impugned batch of the product has not been manufactured by them and that it is a spurious drug. The product is purported to be spurious; however, the same is subject to the outcome of the investigation."
