Pakistan to test surface-to-surface missiles as India slaps diplomatic shutdown post Pahalgam massacre
PTC News Desk: Pakistan government has issued a notification to carry out surface-to surface missile test from its Karachi coast along its coastline within its exclusive economic zone on April24-25.
According to the reports, Indian agencies are keeping a close watch on the concerned developments. Pakistan's latest move comes after India slapped the neighbouring country with possible diplomatic shutdown in view of the horrific Pahalgam massacre.
India's response followed notable evidence of cross-border linkages in the attack and said that the attack was perpetrated in the wake of successful holding of elections in the Union Territory and its steady progress towards economic growth and development.
Earlier, in a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, India announced a series of diplomatic actions against Pakistan in response to the horrific Pahalgam massacre including suspension of Indus Water Treaty and closure of Attari-Wagah border. The Indian government also banned Pakistani nationals from entering India.
At a press briefing on Wednesday evening, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced the measures. One of the key measure is scaling down of diplomatic missions in each country. Both the Indian and Pakistani high commissions will reduce their personnel strength from 55 to 30, to be completed by May 1.
