Chef Imtiaz Qureshi dies: Imtiaz Qureshi, the legendary Indian chef behind ITC Hotels' culinary excellence, died on Friday morning. Celebrity Chef Kunal Kapur used the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce Chef Imtiaz's death.
"With great sadness and a heavy heart, I regret to inform you of the heartbreaking news of the passing of Padma Shri Chef Mr Imtiaz Qureshi, who departed from this world earlier this morning," Chef Kunal posted.
He went on to mention Chef Imtiaz Qureshi's culinary contributions and stated that his legacy would be "remembered and cherished" forever.
Anurag Katriar, restaurateur and founder of Indigo Hospitality P Ltd, also used the social media platform X to express his condolences to the departed soul. "End of an era," he stated. "Just heard that the legendary Master Chef, Imtiaz Qureshi, the man behind Dum Pukht & Bukhara & many other iconic places, is no more. He was undoubtedly the original rockstar of the Indian Culinary World! RIP Chef!"
Chef Imtiaz, born on February 2, 1931 in Lucknow, was also known for his remarkable creations such as Dum Pukht and Bukhara, which redefined Indian cuisine on the global gastronomic platform.
