OYO changes check-in policies, unmarried couples no more welcomed

PTC News Desk: Travel booking major OYO has revised its check-in policy for its partner hotels starting from Meerut. New guidelines will come into effect starting this year whereby no unmarried couple will be welcomed to check in.

As per the revised policies, all the couples will be mandated to present a valid relationship proof at the time of check-in including online bookings. OYO has empowered its partner hotels’ discretion to decline couple bookings based on their judgment, aligning with local social sensibility, the company said.

The amendments will be enforced starting from Meerut with directive issued by OYO to ensure this with immediate effect.

“OYO has received feedback in the past from civil society groups especially in Meerut urging action to address this issue. Additionally, residents from few other cities have petitioned for disallowing unmarried couples to check-in at OYO hotels,” company said.

The initiative is a part of OYO’s programme to transform outdated perception and project itself as a brand providing safe experience for families, students, business, religious and solo travellers, the company said.
