Operation Ajay: Second flight brings back 235 Indians from war-torn Israel
Operation Ajay: Under the banner of 'Operation Ajay,' 235 Indians, including two infants, were brought back from Israel on Saturday, a day after 212 others were flown out amid the country's ongoing conflict with the Palestinian group Hamas.
On Thursday, India launched 'Operation Ajay' to evacuate its nationals from Israel in the aftermath of Hamas' land-sea-air assault on October 7, which raised levels of tension in the war-torn region.
Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, met the Indian contingent when their plane landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital today.
This evacuation effort is majorly focused on Indian students studying in Israeli institutions. Registration of Indians began on Thursday.
A 24-hour control room in New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation in Israel and Palestine. Contact information for the control room and the Indian embassy's emergency helpline in Tel Aviv has been provided for those seeking assistance.
This operation exemplifies India's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad during challenging circumstances.
